Maitland City Centre broke ground today on the $68 million 3.2-acre new Allen Morris development. ACi Architects enjoys a longstanding relationship with the joint venture development team, working again with The Allen Morris Company, Millenia Partners, and LAMM & Co., designing this exclusive mixed-use project which will take up an entire block on U.S. Route 17-92 and redefine downtown Maitland with 35,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, a celebrated park and 220 apartment homes.

Scott Webber, ACi‘s Managing Design Principal, believes this mixed-use concept will set Maitland a part from the developing Central Florida corridor, “To be able to mix high-end apartment living, with work office suites, market and retail space, and the park is an incredible step to creating an identifiable place for all residents of Maitland. To be able to do it with such quality owners, who recognize the history and future for Maitland Avenue as a gateway between Sanford, through Winter Park, and into Orlando is incredible.”

Twenty four live/work units are part of the overall concept, which will attract small business owners who can combine apartment home living with office suites.

Longtime ACi Architects client, Allen Morris, is excited The Allen Morris Company is creating another one of their Inspired Living places in Maitland, “We will be taking Independence Street and turning it into Festival Street, where it will become an activity street that will open up to our artisan market, restaurants and cafe’s.”

Dale McDonald, Mayor of Maitland, agrees “To be able to be have a free flowing green space, retail district along here. These are things we have all craved for many, many years and haven’t had in decades.”
